About Shop Don’t Tell


Started in 2019, Shop Don’t Tell is a Los Angeles-based collective that operates as a curated retail and editorial platform for fashion.


Our garments are sourced from a small set of designers, and we have been proud to lease and sell many museum-grade pieces of fashion history during the years we have been in operation. With the archive, we produce an in-house line of minimalist menswear for Sebastian Moraga.


In addition, Shop Don’t Tell is a production platform for editorial writing about stylistic trends and fashion theory. Our newsletter and research center, The Gone Library, provides regular analysis of historical and contemporary works in a style that emphasizes original historical research, critical analysis, and the technical details of garment manufacture.


Why We’re Looking to Hire


We are seeking a part-time intern that can assist in expanding our platform reach through fashion writing and social media management.


What You Can Expect to Learn


As an intern, you can expect to receive close mentorship from our editorial team, and training for journalistic writing, editing, and technology-driven fashion marketing. In addition, you will have close exposure to the inner workings of a small but growing fashion business and an opportunity to learn about core business strategy and marketing concerns for the industry.


Please note, this is an unpaid semester-long position that lasts from September 15th to December 15th, 2020, with an opportunity for advancement to a paid position.


Requirements


  • Familiarity with major brands, trends, and designers and an interest in learning more about fashion history.

  • Strong writing and research skills.

  • Experience with content creation and community engagement on Instagram, Twitter, and other major social media platforms.


Nice To Have


  • Knowledge of design tools such as Figma, Illustrator, etc.

  • Experience with video production and editing for platforms like YouTube and TikTok.


Responsibilities


  • Research, curate, and create content for our editorial platform and social media platforms on a weekly basis.

  • Help monitor and track social behavior on all channels.

  • Help gather data for social and site traffic.
